Finance Manager : 2 years minimum

We are looking for a Finance and Administration Manager to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. This is a broad role within growing, vibrant manufacturing business that requires a safe pair of hands. We are a flexible employer.

Esper is a fast growing tech startup based in the heart of Nottingham. We develop and build game-changing technology for the world’s entertainment and creative industries. Our cutting edge LightCage systems and multi-camera products are used globally by some of the leading names in the Visual Effects and Computer Games industries, including; Industrial Light and Magic, WETA, Sony, Disney, Ubisoft, EA , Rocksteady and on recent films such as: Star Wars The Last Jedi, BladeRunner 2049, Justice League and War for the Planet of the Apes.

Duties will include:

Finance
  • To maintain the financial systems for ESPER: inputting purchase, sales and nominal ledger transactions onto accounting package, making and receiving payments and maintaining appropriate financial records.
  • Oversee & support all aspects of Sales ledger ensuring strong credit control and customer care.
  • Oversee & support all aspects of Purchase Ledger ensuring suppliers are paid in a timely manner.
  • To produce monthly Management Accounts, Cash Flow, Core and Project Budgets, including both transactional and accrual P&L.
  • Process statutory returns and submissions, including VAT, PAYE
  • Liaise with external accountants in the production of year end accounts and filing to Companies House.
  • To handle company banking, records and reconciliations as well as well as liaising with the company’s payroll partner and leading all pay-related matters: tax, leave, sickness, maternity, pensions etc.
  • Set daily exchange rate for the sales and procurement teams. Oversee and support them with all transactions that use foreign currency.
  • To process staff expenses and handle petty cash floats.
  • Identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and cost reductions across the business.
  • Develop and manage financial processes, systems and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Adminstration
  • To assist the Company Directors in implementing HR functions, recruitment processes, maintaining personnel records, annual leave, sickness, maternity leave, grievances, training, Health & Safety procedures, fire safety, first aid etc. etc.
  • To ensure the smooth running of the ESPER office: including liaising with landlords & maintenance, liaising with IT support, suppliers, PAT testing, insurance arrangements, trademarks, data protection, handling post etc.
  • To provide support for the Company Directors members including : scheduling and arranging board meetings as well as other large meetings, taking minutes, assisting the Directors to prepare papers, distributing papers etc
  • To monitor and update all essential subscriptions and direct debits.

About you

Essential
  • Experience of working in a financial role preferably within a small organisation with strong book keeping skills.
  • Experience of using a computerised accounts package.
  • Proven organisation skills, a practical and methodical approach, and accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including a professional telephone manner.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Google suite, Excel and Word.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in the technology sector and dealing with suppliers and foreign currency transactions.
  • A recognised CCAB qualification with post qualification experience.
  • Working knowledge of Xero or Sage.
  • Strong Excel skills will be an advantage.
  • A keen interest in film and gaming and a desire to work within the technology sector.
